NVIDIA's Record Earnings Driven by AI Demand as Crypto Miners Repurpose Infrastructure

NVIDIA's latest earnings report has sparked significant interest in both the financial and crypto communities. The company reported record quarterly results, posting revenue of $96.2 billion for its second quarter of fiscal 2027, a 18% increase from the prior quarter and a 106% jump from a year earlier.

The data-center segment, which houses NVIDIA's AI accelerators, accounted for $89.0 billion in revenue, up 117% year-over-year. This growth is largely driven by the increasing demand for AI workloads powered by NVIDIA GPUs.

Interestingly, the crypto industry has a direct connection to these results. Bitcoin miners are repurposing their power, land, and data-center infrastructure built for mining to host AI workloads powered by NVIDIA GPUs. In fact, several major U.S.-listed Bitcoin miners have moved towards AI data centers in some form.

NVIDIA's guidance for the current quarter (Q3 fiscal 2027) is $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%, with the assumption that there will be no data-center compute revenue from China due to export restrictions.
