NYAG Warns Proposed Clarity Act Could Weaken Crypto Enforcement
New York Attorney General (NYAG) Letitia James has expressed concerns that the proposed CLARITY Act could weaken state-level enforcement of cryptocurrencies.
The NYAG's office stated that the bill, which aims to regulate digital assets, could inadvertently create loopholes for bad actors and undermine state authorities' ability to investigate and prosecute cryptocurrency-related crimes.
The NYAG's warning comes as lawmakers in Washington are pushing forward with the CLARITY Act, which would establish a new framework for regulating digital assets nationwide.
