NYC's Doxxing List Sparks Crypto Fears Amid Soaring Robberies

New York City recently released a list of 31,000 homes that may owe a new second-home tax. The file includes streets, buildings, and apartment numbers, which crypto founders are calling 'mass doxxing.'

The city's goal was to identify properties that don't serve as the owner's primary residence. However, the $1 million threshold for condos or co-ops has resulted in a much broader list than expected.

Crypto advocates are warning of potential risks, including crypto kidnappings and violence. They point to France, which had 33 of the 52 violent crypto robberies counted by CertiK in the first half of 2026.

One Uniswap founder, Hayden Adams, searched luxury buildings on the list and found nearly every unit listed, including those belonging to people he knows.
