NYSE Unveils Onchain Settlement Platform for Tokenized Securities
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is building an onchain settlement platform for tokenized securities, according to its president Lynn Martin. This move comes after NYSE's participation in a tokenization pilot by the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) in July, which will be fully launched in October.
The platform aims to support 24/7 onchain trading and settlement of U.S. equities and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), including fractional shares, instant settlement, and stablecoin-based funding. NYSE has already begun building out its tokenization capabilities through a partnership with Securitize, which serves as the exchange's first digital transfer agent.
The move is part of a broader effort by Wall Street's clearinghouse to move stock trading onto blockchain rails. Over 50 firms have contributed to DTCC's pilot, including major financial institutions and crypto-native companies like Anchorage and Circle.
