NYSE Unveils Revolutionary Tokenized Trading Platform
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is developing a revolutionary tokenized trading platform that will enable continuous trading and immediate settlement. The system, which aims to merge traditional securities infrastructure with distributed ledger technology, will allow for tokenized stocks, ETFs, fractional ownership, and stablecoin transactions.
The exchange has been working on this initiative since January, when it was unveiled as part of the comprehensive market infrastructure modernization plan. The platform will integrate the NYSE Pillar order matching technology with distributed ledger systems handling settlement operations and digital asset management.
Pending regulatory clearance, the platform will facilitate tokenized equities, index funds, partial share ownership, and fiat-denominated transactions for authorized users. The marketplace will incorporate stablecoin payment capabilities and compatibility with various blockchain protocols for clearing, safekeeping, and associated operational activities.
