NYSE Unveils Revolutionary Tokenized Trading Platform for Continuous Market Access
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is developing a digital platform for continuous trading and immediate settlement of tokenized securities. The initiative, unveiled in January, aims to merge traditional securities infrastructure with distributed ledger technology while maintaining investor protections and shareholder privileges.
The NYSE plans to integrate its Pillar order matching technology with distributed ledger systems handling settlement operations and digital asset management. This will enable the platform to facilitate tokenized equities, index funds, partial share ownership, and fiat-denominated transactions for authorized users.
The exchange has already participated in a blockchain testing pilot with the Depository Trust Company (DTC) last July, which involved real securities transactions using tokenized instruments. The DTC plans to activate its comprehensive Tokenization Service in October following completion of the operational trials and system validation.
