NYSP Warns of Growing Cryptocurrency Scam Involving Gold Purchases
New York State Police is warning residents about a growing financial scam involving fraudulent cryptocurrency and the purchase of gold bars or coins.
Trooper Lynnea Crane says scammers are using sophisticated tactics to convince victims to liquidate their savings, withdraw large sums of cash, or purchase gold with false promises.
The New York State Police advises people who believe they've been targeted to stop communicating with suspected scammers and report the incident at www.ic3.gov.
Contacting New York State Police or a local law enforcement agency immediately is also recommended.
