NZD Stalls as RBNZ Outlook and US Inflation Data Take Center Stage
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) has stalled in its recent rebound as investors remain cautious about the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's (RBNZ) monetary policy outlook. The NZD/USD currency pair trades around 0.5880 on Monday, posting a modest 0.06% decline after two consecutive days of gains.
The RBNZ's decision to raise its policy rate for a second consecutive meeting has not convinced investors that the bank will adopt an aggressive monetary tightening cycle. As a result, the NZD's appreciation potential remains limited.
The US Dollar (USD) is also playing a role in the NZD/USD dynamics, as investors await upcoming inflation data from the United States. A benign Consumer Price Index (CPI) reading could prevent the Federal Reserve (Fed) from raising interest rates, despite the strong labor market data released last week.
