NZD Surges to Fresh Highs Against USD Amid Softening Greenback

The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) has climbed to fresh highs against the US Dollar (USD), reaching levels not seen since June 1. This uptrend is attributed to a softer USD and firm expectations of a rate hike from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ).

The Greenback's decline can be linked to the US Treasury's plan to expand its buyback of longer-dated bonds, which has pressured US yields. Additionally, an earlier safe-haven bid tied to Middle East tensions has faded as the US declared the Strait of Hormuz free of mines.

A technical analysis by FXStreet suggests that NZD/USD is holding a bullish near-term bias, with consolidation above both the 20-period and 100-period Simple Moving Averages (SMA). The Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicates constructive momentum, but not yet overbought. This could lead to further gains if the pair breaks above immediate horizontal resistance at 0.5983.
