OCC Gives Preliminary OK for World Liberty Trust as National Trust Bank
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has granted World Liberty Trust Company preliminary conditional approval to become a national trust bank. This allows them to issue and manage their USD1 stablecoin under federal regulation.
This is a significant step for World Liberty Trust, which currently has its stablecoin managed by a private custodian. The company is linked to the Trump family, who own 38% of it.
The approval comes amid Senate debates over the CLARITY Act, which aims to regulate crypto profits involving public officials and their families.
