OCC Sets November Deadline for Final Stablecoin Regulatory Framework
The US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) is moving quickly to finalize its stablecoin regulatory framework, known as the GENIUS Act. According to Acting Comptroller Jonathan Gould, final regulations will be issued by November.
This timeline comes after US regulators missed the one-year statutory deadline for final rulemaking set by the GENIUS Act.
The OCC's proposed rules cover reserve assets, redemption, risk management, auditing, and supervision for stablecoin issuers. However, the specific contents of the final rules remain unconfirmed, including capital requirements, reserve levels, and disclosure obligations.
