OCC Targets November for GENIUS Act Stablecoin Rules Finalization
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) plans to finalize its GENIUS Act stablecoin rules by November, aiming to resolve regulatory uncertainty before the framework takes effect. According to OCC Comptroller Jonathan Gould, digital asset chartering activity has increased eightfold since the Biden administration, indicating potential clearer regulation and greater adoption for crypto and stablecoin markets.
Gould made this statement at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium in Jackson Hole on August 19. He noted that the agency will review industry feedback before completing its regulations. The OCC's move to finalize GENIUS Act stablecoin rules by November signals an effort to provide clarity and stability for the crypto and stablecoin markets.
