OKX Android App Reinstated on Google Play Store in South Korea
OKX's Android app has been reinstated on South Korea's Google Play Store after being unavailable for about four days. The exchange's app, which was blocked from search results and installation, is now accessible again to users in the country.
This move makes OKX the first overseas exchange to regain access to the platform since its restrictions were implemented earlier this month. Bybit, another major exchange, remains unavailable on Google Play Store in South Korea.
The app's return comes as part of a broader effort by South Korean regulators to oversee and restrict unregistered virtual asset service providers (VASPs) operating in the country. In July, Digital Asset reported that 29 overseas crypto exchange apps had been restricted on Google Play under the company's policy for unreported VASPs.
OKX has been expanding its regulated operations outside South Korea, including launching a one-way conversion service allowing customers across 30 European Union and European Economic Area countries to deposit USDT and convert their holdings into MiCA-compliant USDC.
