OKX Listings Face Uncertainty as OpenAI Ruling Out 2026 IPO
Malta-regulated OKX Europe Markets Ltd listed pre-IPO perpetual futures on OpenAI and Anthropic, offering up to 10x leverage. The listings were made available on September 10th.
In an interview with Fortune two days later, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman ruled out a 2026 Initial Public Offering (IPO), stating that such a move would be 'ill-advised.'
The pre-IPO perpetuals have no underlying cash market, which means there is no arbitrage mechanism to tether the derivative price to a verifiable share value. OKX reserves the discretion to delist or settle contracts at prices it determines if the IPO does not proceed.
