OKX Restricts Access to Claude for HK Staff Amid Policy Compliance Concerns
OKX, a global cryptocurrency exchange, has restricted access to Claude for its Hong Kong-based employees and those traveling in China. The move comes after OKX's corporate Claude account was temporarily suspended earlier this month. Bloomberg reported that the company's enterprise account was later restored.
The restriction is due to Anthropic's policy of not allowing Claude to be used in mainland China or Hong Kong. OKX identified that some employees working in Hong Kong may not have been using Claude in full compliance with Anthropic's regional policies, leading to the restriction.
OKX has been stepping up its use of AI across its operations, reportedly spending $6 million to $8 million a month on subscriptions for large language model-based AI services. The company will now restrict Claude access for Hong Kong staff when necessary and route AI requests to other models.
