Old Bitcoin Wallets Stir as 2011 Coins See 503k% Price Gain
A significant movement of Bitcoin's oldest coins has been observed on the blockchain, with a wallet that had remained untouched since 2011 transferring 10 BTC. The transfer occurred in block 964,539 and was valued at approximately $777,000, representing a price increase of roughly 503,000% from its initial acquisition level.
This is part of a broader pattern that has emerged in August, with several addresses holding Bitcoin for more than a decade becoming active. Other transactions include 85 BTC dating back to December 2012 moving after approximately 13.6 years and valued at about $5.4 million when transferred.
The trend resembles other episodes where very old wallets suddenly return on-chain. In 2025, for example, a separate dormant wallet moved Bitcoin originally mined in 2009 after more than a decade of inactivity. Such transactions attract attention because long-term holders control supply that rarely circulates.
