Ondo Launches New Execution Layer for Tokenized Assets

Ondo Finance has unveiled Ondo Network, a new execution layer designed to accelerate trading of tokenized assets and cryptocurrencies. The infrastructure combines high-speed execution found on centralized exchanges with non-custodial trading and settlement directly on blockchain networks.

According to CEO Ian De Bode, the change represents an evolution of the company's previous project, Ondo Chain. 'I would say it is more of an evolution, but we will not operate Ondo Network and Ondo Chain in parallel,' De Bode said.

Ondo initially focused on developing a complete blockchain with Ondo Chain to bring real-world assets to blockchain networks. However, during the development of Ondo Perps, the company identified that execution presented a greater bottleneck than the settlement stage.

The new network separates execution, verification, and settlement, increasing the speed of operations without compromising users' control over their own assets. Network verification will be carried out by a decentralized structure of attesters, who determine which codes can be executed in secure hardware enclaves.
