Ondo Seeks Regulatory Clarity for Blockchain Perpetual Futures in US Crypto Market
Ondo Finance is pushing for regulatory clarity in the US crypto market, urging regulators to create new rules for blockchains and perpetual futures. The company believes that blockchain technology can solve several market risks without duplicating legacy systems.
In three comment letters submitted to the SEC and CFTC, Ondo targets three areas of crypto market structure: perpetual futures, portfolio margining, and onchain data reporting. According to Ondo, perpetual contracts tied to US-listed securities should be brought onshore instead of being traded offshore.
Ondo's proposal argues that blockchain-based infrastructure can facilitate settlement and monitoring of exposures more frequently, making it a more efficient system than traditional legacy models.
