OpenAI Blocks Access for Crypto Security Researcher
A Bitcoin security researcher has been forced to use open-source Chinese AI models due to restrictions on OpenAI's Trust & Cyber capabilities. Rob Hamilton, CEO of AnchorWatch and founder of Bitcoin Red Team, posted on X that he had started integrating OpenAI's tools into his research but found himself restricted from analyzing further codebases the following morning.
Hamilton expressed frustration with this development, stating 'It absolutely guts me as a patriotic American to have to do this, but I will be going back to using Chinese open source models to conduct my research to protect Bitcoin infrastructure.'
The Coldcard hardware wallet hack has seen over $100 million in Bitcoin stolen. The Bitcoin Red Team uses AI tools and human review to scan hundreds of open-source Bitcoin-related repositories for vulnerabilities.
