OpenAI Unveils Astra AI Model in Exclusive Preview

OpenAI recently showcased its Astra AI model in a private preview for stakeholders in Washington D.C. on August 1. The Astra family is designed to handle long-running, multi-agent tasks, a significant leap beyond the GPT-5.6 series introduced earlier this summer.

The preview was exclusive and held in the nation's capital. OpenAI hasn't released any performance metrics or a timeline for public availability yet.

Astra builds on the foundation of the GPT-5.6 series, which includes models branded Sol, Terra, and Luna, launched in June and July 2023. The new model family focuses on coordinating multiple AI agents working together on complex tasks.
