OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra Proves Itself to Be a 'Turbo-AGI Machine God' for Certain Tasks
OpenAI's latest AI model, GPT-6 Astra, has been hailed as 'shockingly good' at almost everything it was tested for. The model, released on September 3 at a price of $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, is 2.5 times more expensive than its predecessor.
Developers who received early access to the model were able to create impressive projects in a short amount of time. For example, one tester built a replica of Manhattan in Unreal Engine, while another created a playable browser version of a mobile game advertisement in under 30 minutes.
GPT-6 Astra also showed promise in its ability to understand and recreate visual information. One developer used the model to generate a realistic 3D reconstruction of Apple Park from photographs, while another was able to create a miniature version of the Chinese city of Hangzhou in just 24 minutes.
However, not all tests were positive. The model's writing abilities were rated as below its predecessor's, and it scored an 80 Elo point drop on a benchmark of economically valuable professional work.
