OpenClaw Developers Hit by Phishing Scam Using Fake CLAW Token
OpenClaw, an open-source AI project with over 465,000 subscribers on X, is being targeted by attackers in a phishing campaign. The scam uses fake GitHub posts claiming recipients have won $5,000 worth of 'CLAW', a non-existent token.
The posts are tagged to increase visibility and direct users to a cloned website mimicking the official OpenClaw page. Once on the site, users are prompted to connect their crypto wallets, which could lead to credential theft or malicious transaction approvals.
OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger has issued warnings on X, stating that any emails claiming association with the project are scams and directing users to the official site only.
