OpenSea Rekindles Solana NFT Support, Reviving Market Hopes
NFT marketplace OpenSea has reinstated support for Solana NFT trading, four years after it first tested the waters in April 2022. This move marks a significant milestone for Solana, which is now the first non-EVM chain to be supported by OpenSea.
The platform's OS2 network, built from scratch, initially started with support for Solana tokens and has now expanded to include NFT trading. This aligns with the growing trend of NFT platforms embracing Solana as a viable option. In April 2025, Solana briefly returned to OpenSea via OS2, but only with support for homogeneous tokens at the time.
OpenSea currently supports a wide range of networks, mostly EVM-compatible chains like Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum. However, this development comes as the NFT market is still recovering from its peak in 2021-2022, when it reached tens of billions of dollars in monthly transaction volume.
