Optimism Foundation Aims to Circulate 343M OP Tokens in 2026-2027

The Optimism Foundation has released its budget outlook for its fifth year of operation, covering May 2026 to April 2027. According to estimates, approximately 343 million OP tokens will enter circulation during this period.

Of these, 200 million OP are expected to come from the Ecosystem Fund, while 47.6 million OP will be unlocked for early seed contributors and 15.3 million OP for investors.

The increased supply of OP tokens is part of the project's initial allocation plan, with no new token allocation requested. The Optimism Foundation clarified that operations are proceeding within the existing distribution framework.

Notably, the foundation also reported a decrease in expenses during its fourth year of operation, which covered May 2025 to April 2026. OP expenses decreased by about one-third compared to the previous year, from approximately 229.92 million OP to around 150 million OP.
