Optimism Re-Designates Airdrop Allocation into Strategic Ecosystem Fund

The Optimism Foundation has re-designated 546.9 million OP from the airdrop allocation into a new pot, the Strategic Ecosystem Fund.

This decision was made after a vote in which less than one percent of the total supply took part.

The Strategic Ecosystem Fund will be used to finance partnerships that bring chains and protocols onto the OP Stack, as well as incentives for activity and liquidity on OP Mainnet.

The re-designation comes at a time when Optimism is shifting its strategy from winning users broadly to institutional adoption.

The proposal was approved by 62.2 percent of voters, but only 0.67 percent of the total supply participated in the vote.
