Optimism's OP Token Supply to Swell by Almost 15% in 2026-2027

The Optimism Foundation has announced that 342.9 million OP tokens will enter circulation between May 2026 and April 2027, expanding the liquid supply to 2.504 billion OP, roughly 58.3% of the total 4.29 billion cap.

The largest chunk of these tokens comes from the Ecosystem Fund, which will receive 200 million OP for grants, liquidity incentives, and developer bounties over the course of Year 5.

The market's reaction to this supply increase is uncertain, with some potential for choppy price action around settlement windows. However, Optimism's advantage lies in its transparent schedule and large portion directed toward ecosystem growth rather than individual wallets.
