OSRS Developers Take Hardline Stance on Crypto-Driven Market Manipulation

Share

Crypto traders in Old School RuneScape (OSRS) have been caught manipulating the game's economy by hoarding rare items, specifically the Robin Hood Hat, to drive up their value. This was done as part of a scheme tied to a meme coin that tracks or trades against OSRS item prices.

The 'Robin Hood Hat Strategy' account boasted of collecting over 9,000 hats for themselves, but now claims it's impossible to truly collect them due to the manipulation.

Jagex, the developer of OSRS, has taken a hardline stance on market manipulation and issued a zero-tolerance policy. They consider this practice as real-world trading, which is banned in the game and will result in action against accounts that engage in it.
