OTOY's RENDER Token Suffers 89.4% Price Drop Since Peak

Jules Urbach is the founder and CEO of OTOY, a private Los Angeles graphics software company. He founded OTOY in 2008 after co-founding Groove Alliance in 1998 with Chris Kantrowitz and Peter Laufenburg. The company's flagship product is OctaneRender, a GPU path tracer that simulates individual rays to compute light.

Urbach also founded the Render Network, which pays owners of idle graphics cards in its RENDER token to render other people's work. In 2016, he launched the network as an alternative to buying and running expensive render farms. Node operators connect their GPUs, the network distributes frames to them, and RENDER settles the payment.

The token economics are based on a burn-and-mint equilibrium. New RENDER is minted to reward operators on a declining schedule, with 9,126,804 RENDER allocated in year one and 5,905,580 in year two. Circulating supply stands at roughly 518.8 million RENDER against a maximum of about 644.2 million, leaving around 80% out.
