Pakistan Builds Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Amid Future Financial System Changes
Pakistan's digital-asset regulator is planning to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve as part of its long-term strategy to prepare for changes in the future financial system.
Bilal Bin Saqib, chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA), said the reserve is not focused on the price of Bitcoin or using large amounts of cash to buy it. Instead, he emphasized that countries and financial institutions worldwide view Bitcoin as a scarce and strategic asset.
Pakistan aims to adapt to this shift and build related capabilities, according to Saqib. He also described digital assets as a new opportunity for the country, which fell behind in past technological revolutions but wants to be at the forefront of the current financial revolution.
