Pakistan Eyes Strategic Bitcoin Reserve for Sovereign Preparedness
Pakistan's government is exploring the idea of creating a national Bitcoin reserve to store seized digital assets. According to Bilal Bin Saqib, chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA), this reserve would be used for sovereign preparedness and not for trading or speculation.
The concept was first presented by Saqib at Bitcoin Vegas 2025, where he proposed repurposing seized coins into a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve managed through a national wallet. These digital assets have been in government custody since being seized by law enforcement agencies across Pakistan.
By February 2026, the first governance milestone had been reached: transitioning state-held digital assets into formal custody arrangements designed for transparency and accountability.
