PancakeSwap V2 Hit with $20,000 Security Exploit on FHToken
A security exploit has drained approximately $20,000 from the FH/$USDT liquidity pool on PancakeSwap V2 after attackers found a way to exploit a flaw in FHToken's smart contract.
The issue was caused by a coding error in the _transfer function, which mishandled how tokens behaved during sell transactions. This led to incorrect token burns and allowed an attacker to drain funds by looping buy and sell transactions.
The incident has raised concerns about security practices across smaller decentralized finance projects. FHToken's developers will likely need to conduct independent audits and make visible fixes to the vulnerable code in order to restore investor confidence.
