Pantera Leads $52.5M Round for Nonprofit's Biometric Identity System
A nonprofit called World Foundation has raised $52.5 million in funding to scale its biometric-based identity verification system, World ID. The investment round was led by Pantera Capital and included other notable investors such as Bain Capital Crypto and Susquehanna Crypto.
The funds will be used to expand World ID's capabilities and support the development of more advanced authentication technologies.
The growth in AI-generated content and automated agents has created a pressing need for secure identity verification solutions, according to World Foundation. Its biometric credential system uses user verification at a hardware point called the World Orb, which generates a digital credential that can be used to verify online identities.
