Park Hyun-joo Sets sights on Global Investment Platform with Digital X
Mirae Asset Securities Chairman Park Hyun-joo outlined his vision to transform Digital X into a global investment platform during an internal lecture for employees at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jongno-gu, Seoul. He emphasized that Digital X's acquisition of Korbit was not just about running a 'Korea Bitcoin' exchange, but rather to move in four directions: crypto, stablecoins, real-world assets (RWA), and security token offerings (STO).
Park set a target for Digital X to return to profitability by 2027. He stressed that even if the company turns a profit next year, it should not rush to pay dividends, but instead accumulate capital and invest boldly.
Park also criticized the domestic practice of listing altcoins, calling it 'fraud' and a 'criminal act' to supply products while knowing customers may suffer losses. He drew a parallel with Mirae Asset's IPO principles, saying the firm applies internal checks when judging public offering shares at excessively high prices.
Park directed Digital X to broaden its organization and business towards stablecoins, RWA, and STOs. He proposed new business ideas including a 'gold coin' backed by physical assets such as gold and silver, and an 'electricity coin' linked to power-generating assets.
