PayPal Embeds Stablecoin PYUSD into Core Payments Business
PayPal has officially integrated its stablecoin, PYUSD, into its core payments business. The move is part of the company's restructuring efforts, which also include the creation of a new Payment Services & Crypto division.
The division combines PayPal's payment services with its crypto operations, including merchant acquiring and processing. This shift reflects the growing importance of stablecoins in the payments industry.
PayPal processed $486.4 billion in total payment volume during the second quarter, a 10% increase from last year. The company's strong financial results support its expansion into digital assets.
The Payment Services & Crypto division will offer additional merchant products supported by PYUSD and expand agent-based payment capabilities over time.
