PayPal Opens Up Bidirectional Crypto Transfers for US Customers
PayPal has opened up bidirectional crypto transfers for eligible US customers, connecting mainstream consumer finance directly to Web3 networks.
The platform allows users to receive supported cryptocurrencies from external wallets and send assets to other wallets, exchanges, PayPal accounts, or Venmo. However, the cryptocurrency and blockchain network must match the address provided, as sending Bitcoin Cash to a Bitcoin address can result in permanent loss.
PayPal supports external transfers for major assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Solana, Chainlink, and PYUSD, with minimum transfer requirements varying by asset and network. Eligible US customers have a maximum weekly crypto transfer limit of USD 25,000 across internal and external transfers.
Crypto transfers into or out of PayPal usually take around two hours, although the actual time can vary depending on blockchain congestion and confirmation requirements. Users should verify the cryptocurrency, blockchain network, receiving address, transfer minimum, and account limits before sending funds to avoid permanent loss or difficulty in recovery.
