PayPal's PYUSDx Platform Launches with $100M in Assets Under Management
PayPal's expansion into the world of cryptocurrencies has taken another step forward with the launch of PYUSDx, its new platform for creating custom tokens. The platform allows businesses to issue their own stablecoins, backed by PayPal's Digital Dollar currency (PYUSD), which is designed to remain at $1.
According to MoonPay, a key partner in the project, PYUSDx has already reached $100 million in assets under management upon its public launch. The platform supports Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Monad, making it accessible to a wide range of users. Companies such as Saturn, Concrete, and Pay Cap have already begun using the infrastructure to issue their own tokens.
The customized tokens are issued by MoonPay Digital Assets, not PayPal or Paxos, which is the company behind PYUSD. This setup allows businesses to maintain control over their tokens while still benefiting from the stability of PYUSD. The platform's built-in conversion tools also enable users to change tokens without creating a new liquidity pool for each project.
One key advantage of PYUSDx is that it enables companies to issue their own tokenized dollars, backed by PYUSD-based rails, rather than building out their own payment and reserve system. This can save businesses time and resources while still providing them with the flexibility they need.
