PayPal's Q2 earnings report revealed revenue of $8.68 billion, beating market expectations by approximately 5% year-over-year. The company's total payment volume reached $486.4 billion, up 10% from the same period last year.

PayPal emphasized its stablecoin PYUSD as a major enabler for the PayPal World platform, positioning it as a commerce-first stablecoin geared toward mainstream consumer and merchant use cases.

In contrast to other stablecoins, PYUSD has been relatively lukewarm in the market. Its supply fell approximately 31% by the end of Q2, from $4.2 billion in March to around $2.7 billion. This contraction is largely attributed to reduced incentive programs and capital rotation into other assets.

The company's narrative surrounding PYUSD emphasizes its expanding reach and on-chain integration, with the stablecoin deployed across nine public chains: Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Stellar, Avalanche, Aptos, Sei, Tron, and Abstract. However, despite this expansion, the actual circulating supply has contracted.
