Payward Defies Crypto Market Headwinds with Record Revenue
Payward, the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, reported $508 million in adjusted revenue for Q2 2026. This represents a 17% year-over-year increase and defies market headwinds that saw platform transaction volume decrease by 13% to $310 billion.
The company's user base expanded significantly with funded accounts rising 42% to 6.6 million, while assets under platform custody totaled $40 billion at quarter end.
Payward's business model is evolving beyond traditional trading fees, with asset-based and alternative revenue streams now accounting for 60% of total income, up from 55% in the prior year period.
The company has pursued an aggressive acquisition strategy to expand its product portfolio, including the purchase of derivatives platform Bitnomial and stablecoin payments provider Reap. These transactions are expected to enhance Payward's regulated financial services infrastructure and support its potential public offering plans.
