Pearl Price Breaks Trendline as 'Bitcoin of AI Compute' Hype Grows
Pearl is gaining attention as the 'Bitcoin of AI Compute', a Layer-1 blockchain secured by Proof-of-Useful-Work rather than hashing. This approach uses Nvidia GPUs to run large-scale matrix multiplication, the same core operation behind AI model training and inference. The project's tokenomics mirror Bitcoin's, with a 2.1 billion max supply (100 times that of BTC) and a declining block reward.
The Pearl mainnet was launched by co-founder and CEO Omri Weinstein, a complexity theorist with a Princeton PhD. Together AI has partnered with the project, putting a Pearl-powered inference endpoint into production, offering a 25%+ discount on an instruction-tuned model, funded by PRL emissions.
The short-term view shows a trendline break after price bounced off the channel's lower boundary near $0.2973-0.3387 and rose toward $0.3356. The long-term view shows a multi-week downtrend on the daily chart, with the current price sitting well inside the lower half of the descending channel.
