Pentagon Seals Deals for Missile Defense Systems With General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin

The US Department of Defense has signed framework agreements with General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin to expand production of key missile-defense systems. The deals cover a seven-year period, during which the Pentagon wants to triple PAC-3 MSE production capacity and quadruple THAAD capacity.

General Dynamics will produce specialized interceptor components, including motor cases, seeker housings, midsections, and shroud-deployment systems. Lockheed Martin serves as the prime contractor for both programs.

The government plans to guarantee minimum annual purchase quantities under the framework agreements, designed to give both companies and their suppliers enough certainty to expand facilities and hire more workers.
