PEPE Price Surge Reaches Its Peak Amid Overbought Conditions
PEPE's price surge has reached its peak, according to financial analyst Timothy Morano. The token has risen ~18-21% from its July lows and is currently trading around $0.00000400, $0.00000411. However, the momentum picture is flashing warning signs of an impending correction.
The recent surge in PEPE's price can be attributed to Bitcoin's explosive short squeeze, which carried BTC from $62,900 on August 16 to a $79,500 intraday peak before settling near $76,000, $77,000. When Bitcoin experiences such a significant move, meme coins like PEPE tend to amplify the directional swing by a factor of two to three.
President Trump's support for the Clarity Act has also contributed to the shift in institutional risk appetite in crypto. The Fear & Greed Index readings have swung from extreme fear at 24 to greed at 70 in a single week, leading to a surge in leveraged retail money pouring into high-octane corners of the market.
However, despite the recent breakout and reclaiming of its 50-day and 100-day EMAs, PEPE is still down roughly 67-75% over twelve months from its September 2025 highs near $0.00001193. This indicates that the token is still in a longer-term downtrend.
The technical indicators are also signaling caution, with RSI on the daily frame pushing to 77.63 and the Stochastic oscillator confirming an overbought picture. The Bollinger Band %B sitting at 1.028 means PEPE has overshot the upper band, and statistically, this level of extension resolves with a partial pullback to the band's midpoint in most cases.
