Peptide Sellers Turn to Bitcoin as Banks Reject Unapproved Compounds
The peptide market has seen significant growth, with online sellers increasingly requiring Bitcoin (BTC) for transactions. This trend has drawn in first-time crypto users who are looking to bypass banks and card networks.
Sellers of unapproved compounds often face rejection from traditional payment methods due to legal and regulatory risks. As a result, they have turned to cryptocurrency as a means of accepting payments. According to Chainalysis, gray-market peptide vendors received $32 million in cryptocurrency during the first quarter of 2026, representing a 700% increase from the previous year.
This growth has put the sector on pace to exceed $100 million annually. Many suppliers operate outside the prescription drug system, shipping compounds from overseas laboratories that are often labeled as research chemicals. This lack of regulation has raised concerns among experts, who warn that many products lack reliable human safety and effectiveness data.
