Perak Police Crack Down on Crypto Mining Syndicates Targeting Vacant Shophouses

Perak police have cracked down on cryptocurrency mining syndicates targeting vacant shophouses in Sungai Siput and Seri Iskandar. The operation, led by Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin, resulted in the seizure of 168 crypto mining machines from three shophouses in Sungai Siput on Monday (Aug 31).

The raid was a result of intelligence gathering and followed four raids at the premises. The owners of these shophouses were reportedly unaware that their properties had been converted into mining centres.

The seized machines are believed to be used for cryptocurrency mining, specifically targeting Bitcoin.
