Phantom Blade Zero Enters the Fray as a Contender for 2026's Biggest Action RPGs
Phantom Blade Zero is making waves in the gaming community after its recent showcase at Sony's State of Play in August. The action RPG, developed by S-GAME, offers a unique blend of martial arts and fantasy elements set in the fictional world of Wulin.
The game follows the story of Soul, a Wuxia warrior who is framed for his leader's murder and betrayed by his comrades. After being brought back to life by a mysterious figure, Soul sets out on a path of revenge, navigating through a world filled with tough enemies, large bosses, and traps.
The gameplay showcases fast-paced combat, allowing players to mix and match over 30 main weapons and 25 secondary 'Phantom Edges' to create a customized build. The game's Chinese-inspired look is evident in its villages, temples, caves, and other environments.
Phantom Blade Zero has been compared to another Chinese action game, Black Myth: Wukong, but the two games take different approaches. While Black Myth focuses on Chinese mythology and slower combat, Phantom Blade Zero takes a darker route with faster swordplay and brutal fights.
