Philippines Deploys Blockchain-Based Electronic Notarization System on October 19

Share

The Philippines is set to launch its first electronic notarization system on October 19, marking a significant step towards digitalization.

This new system will allow parties to appear before a notary via videoconferencing and have documents electronically notarized, reducing the need for printed documents and in-person appearances.

The Supreme Court has accredited three electronic notary platforms: Twala, NotarioPH by QLegal, and UNAWA's NotarizeIT platform. These platforms use blockchain technology to create tamper-evident records and audit trails.

Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda expressed his support for electronic notarization, stating that it will remove one of the remaining paper-based steps preventing end-to-end digital transactions.
