A phishing attack on August 6, 2023, resulted in a DeFi user losing $501,650 on the Base network.
The attacker immediately lost nearly 74% of the stolen amount, $370,000, due to a rushed swap on Uniswap V4 without slippage protection.
This move handed most of the funds to an MEV bot, which captured an estimated $320,000 in profit from the arbitrage transaction.
