An XRP holder lost 400,000 tokens after falling for a phishing email disguised as a routine hardware wallet update. The victim received an email appearing to come from Ledger on Easter night, prompting him to update his device.

The email was a convincing phishing attempt that tricked the victim into clicking a fake software update link and entering his wallet information. This allowed attackers to drain the wallet of 400,000 XRP.

Kaltekis noted that phishing attempts have grown increasingly convincing in recent years, making it difficult even for professionals in cybersecurity to distinguish real communications from fake ones.
