Pi Network Activates Protocol 27, Testing Its Ability to Build Real Products
On September 15, Pi Network will activate Protocol 27 on its mainnet, marking a significant milestone in the project's seven-year history. The upgrade brings several key features to the blockchain, including smart contract authentication, an automated market maker decentralized exchange (DEX), and RPC server infrastructure.
The Pi Core Team has been testing these features on testnets since August 21, with over 242,000 Pioneers participating in the SLICE token launch on testnet. This exercise was designed to stress-test the DEX before its mainnet deployment.
Protocol 27 is seen as a crucial moment for Pi Network, which has faced criticism for its slow development pace and difficulty in integrating with external developers. The team's goal is to prove that it can build real products and not just rely on mobile mining as its primary feature.
