Pi Network Expands SoloHost Capabilities with Major Desktop Software Update
The Pi Network has released a major update to its desktop software, Pi Desktop 0.6.3. The update includes several key changes aimed at expanding the capabilities of Pi Nodes beyond blockchain validation.
The team announced that SoloHost, a framework allowing Pioneers to run self-hosted applications directly from their computers, will now rank community apps based on user engagement. This is expected to make it easier for users to find the most-used applications in the ecosystem.
Developers also gain a new 'My Apps' section to manage their published products and improved Docker Compose support for testing and troubleshooting. Additionally, a readiness probe has been introduced to determine whether SoloHost apps are properly responding before they are available to users, reducing intermittent connectivity-related errors.
The update also includes a new SoloHost repository specifically structured to be easily understood by AI agents, allowing them to more effectively assist developers in creating such apps. Furthermore, an issue that could cause SoloHost login tokens to expire after Pi Desktop had been running for several days has been fixed.
