Pi Network Expands Testnet Capabilities with Simulated USDT and DOGE

The Pi Network ecosystem has expanded its testnet capabilities with the appearance of simulated versions of USDT and DOGE. A community member spotted balances in a test wallet, which lines up with the push towards Protocol 27, an upgrade meant to bring real smart contracts to the network.

According to a Core Team update, testnet has moved to Protocol-27, which adds flexible smart contract authentication and lays groundwork for RPC servers, Pi-DEX functions, and AMM liquidity pools. The next mainnet target is September 15, 2026.

The muted price move of $PI coin, currently trading near $0.0906, down 0.95% over the past day, suggests that real impact usually waits for mainnet usage, not test-stage updates.
